Dr. Janice Abela Chetcuti

Biography

Lawyer Janice Abela Chetcuti is a deeply empathetic person who has always felt a strong calling to be the voice of those who have none. She is the mother of two children. Passionate about animal welfare — served as Manager within the Animal Welfare Directorate. Primary school teacher in Ħal Luqa for years; organized Malta's first 'Pet Week' over 20 years ago. Later worked at the Animal Welfare Directorate and contributed to the opening of the animal hospital in Ta' Qali. She believes in social justice and human dignity. Shadow Minister for Equality, Civil Liberties and Public Broadcasting (2022). Mayor of Tas-Sliema (Dec 2021–Apr 2022), Deputy Mayor (Jun 2019–Dec 2021). President of the Women's Movement of the Nationalist Party (Nov 2020–Apr 2022).
